Lessons from A Snowplow
So…I was driving home from taking our daughter to school this morning…in the SNOW! (Yay, it’s snowing!) Anyway, one of those enormous, slow-moving snowplows pulled out in front of me. As I was following him—did I mention he was driving very slowly?—I thought, You know, some people would get frustrated and zip around him because he’s driving so slowly and blocking their way. But I realized in that moment, that regardless of its speed, this truck was clearing a path for me, making my way safer. So, I took a deep breath and simply appreciated the timing of this truck and the benefit of following it, even though it was moving so slowly.
About that time a correlation came into my mind. You see, God is not unlike that snowplow. He is big (B-I-G!!! – He knows all, sees all, is always with us!) and sometimes it can feel as though He’s moving at a snail’s pace. But, if I’ve learned anything about God, it’s that His timing is perfect. He is never early; never late. And though I may get frustrated with His seeming slowness, I would be wise to never zip around Him. (I’ve done that in the past and let me assure you the results are always disastrous! Because guess what? He’s not blocking our way; He’s making a way for us!)
So whatever you’re facing or dealing with today, remember that God is working on your behalf, and though it may seem as though He is moving slowly, He knows what He’s doing and His timing is perfect. Breathe deeply and strive to simply appreciate the journey, following closely behind Him. Rest assured He is clearing a safe path ahead of you and He is working for your benefit and the benefit of those you love.
Oh, and did I mention it’s SNOWING today! YAY! :D
Joyfully, in the grip of His mercy,
Mary

Well said Mary! I enjoyed reading your blog. The Lord has been speaking to me in very similar ways lately. TYJ!!
I can’t remember where we were, but somewhere traffic was heavy and an ambulance with sirens blaring was in front of us speeding to its destination. Cars were moving to the side but we got an escort because we were right behind the ambulance.
Lessons are all around us if we only stop and pay attention. As always, you have tuned in to a significant truth in a mundane activity. :-)
I like the snow, especially when it melts on the roads…
Mary, I’ve enjoyed reading your comments, thoughts, and insights. I am completely joyful, however, that it is snowing in your neck of the woods and not mine! lol.
Thank you for your response from “When Life Gets Hard.” And yes, one of these days our paths will cross, God willing. Forever In His Grip, Donna
Love this! Thanks for the reminder…I often get very impatient with slow moving obstacle removers…even my heavenly Father
